Rod has been practising law since 1982. He joined Wynyard Wood in 1985 and has been a partner since 1988. He was managing partner from 1996 to 2006.
He has had extensive experience in court and tribunal work and has been involved in general litigation, family law and criminal, employment, construction and resource management cases.
Rod has a particular interest in employment law matters, and acts for both employers and employees.
He has been the senior litigation partner in Wynyard Wood since 2006.
Rod was a keen competitive tennis player throughout his school years and played interclub after leaving college for the Remuera Rackets Club for 22 years.
Rod has also played golf reaching a handicap of 8 but golf now takes second place to family commitments.
He enjoys reading, mainly biographies and scientific works. His particular pleasure is his large “Winston Churchill collection” of books and DVDs.
His wife is a senior stormwater engineer and has worked extensively in private practice and for regional and local councils. Their three children’s various sports include rowing, orienteering, rugby and sailing.
